Press release 2/23/06:

"Happy Valley TV with Michael B"

"Happy Valley TV" aims to bring new life to late night television in Utah and beyond.

"Finally, Utah has it's own late night alternative to Letterman and Leno" states host of "HVTV" Michael Birkeland.  Michael B has made his mark over the past 15 year as a top billed standup comedian and has starred in several films including "Home Teachers", "Singles Ward" and his most recent, "Church Ball" - which premiers in March.

What is "HVTV" you may ask? HVTV is a thirty minute weekly variety television show loosely patterned after the classic late-night shows of David Letterman and Jay Leno, combining comedy, talk, and entertainment - with a local twist. HVTV features top musical artists, stars, comedians, and other news-making guests and will be taped before a live studio audience. Each show will also offer audience interaction and short comedic featurettes called "Where Will Michael B? ".  These comedic segments will be informative documentary styled featurettes that take viewers along with Michael B. as he travels around looking for fun and exciting things to do and interesting people to meet. Whether learning to ride the Skeleton at the Olympic Park in Park City, hang gliding or being put through intense tactical military training where he gets shot up by the pros - Michael B. delivers hilarious impromptu comedy.

"Happy Valley TV was born out of the desire to create an entertaining live show for people who want something new and fresh as an alternative to national network programming or the Movies. Our aim is to provide not only an entertaining television show, but an entertaining live variety show as well, explains Bob Madsen - Executive Producer. "Now Utahn's can take a date to a show that offers standup comedy, live music and interesting interviews with local and national celebrities" states Madsen.

Mike Hayter, Executive Producer explains: "Michael B is incredibly talented!  He will interview celebrities, political leaders, and other notable people that will make us laugh and inspire.  We're also searching for interesting "civilian" guests with quirky talents and funny stories.  We aim to shake up late night comedy with world class entertainment that appeals to people looking for something different - funny and clean."

Friday March 3rd Guest Lineup:
The guests of the March 3rd show will be: Host - Comedian - "Michael B." (Michael Birkeland), Filmmaker - Kurt Hale (Halestorm Entertainment), Olympian - Noelle Pikus-Pace, Actress - Emily Tyndall (Napolean Dynamite), Comedian - Dave Nibley, Musical Guest - "Jerrytown", Musical Guest - "Truman", surprise guests and plenty of free giveaways!

Noelle Pikus-Pace

Recently having returned from the Torino Olympics, Utah’s own
Noelle Pikus-Pace of the U.S. Women’s Skeleton Team will share her inspirational story of courage and excellence.
Who is Noelle Pikus-Pace?
Despite defying countless odds -- first by winning a World Cup title, then by somehow getting hit by a runaway bobsled, and yet again by rapidly recovering from a broken leg – Utah Valley State College graduate Noelle Pikus-Pace was named to the U.S. Olympic skeleton team only as an alternate. She missed the first two World Cup races this season because of her broken leg, and thus could not obtain enough points to earn the one women's spot the U.S. was ultimately awarded. In a profound show of true sportsmanship, Noelle traveled to Torino where she supported and encouraged her Olympic teammates. Noelle will share her experiences at the Olympics as well as her future plans.
